David A. Petrucci, Jr., P.E., PTOE, RSP2I is a Senior Project Manager at Michael Baker International and a nationally recognized transportation safety professional with more than 24 years of experience in government and consulting. He has led highway safety and roadway design projects, Safe System Approach, Data-driven Safety Analysis (DDSA), and Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), and Road Safety Audit (RSA) initiatives for FHWA, state DOTs, MPOs, and local agencies throughout the country. As a former Senior Safety Engineer at the FHWA Resource Center, Chair of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Transportation Safety Council, and current Vice Chair of the Transportation Professional Certification Board (TPCB), Mr. Petrucci specializes in translating safety research, policy, and applications of cutting-edge technology, including surrogate safety measures and near miss analysis into practical, implementable solutions that improve transportation system performance and save lives. He is an active leader within ITE, his local community, and a frequent national presenter, and has contributed to numerous FHWA, NCHRP, and industry guidance, training, and technical assistance programs focused on advancing roadway safety and implementation of the Safe System Approach.
