Joe Fiordaliso serves as President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ), the business trade association for the consulting engineering industry. Upon his appointment to this position in 2011 Fiordaliso led a bottom-up overhaul of the organization, stabilizing and rebuilding membership, developing strong programs and events, and reestablishing the organization’s advocacy presence in Trenton. Under Joe’s leadership, ACECNJ regained its position as trusted voice before policy-makers and stakeholders. Today, ACECNJ is known throughout New Jersey and the region as an effective and influential advocacy organization, fighting to protect the business interests of A/E firms. Joe has also served in national leadership roles, including as President of the National Association of Engineering Company Executives (NAECE); a member of ACEC’s national Executive Committee; and a member of the Board of Directors of the ACEC Research Institute.
Joe is a seasoned public policy professional with vast experience and expertise solving complex governmental issues. During a career that spans over twenty-five years, Joe has held prominent positions in and out of government. He has distinguished himself as a trusted advisor to Members of Congress, Governors, cabinet officials and clients, including corporate executives, business leaders, and heads of non-profit and charitable organizations.
He served as Chief of Staff of the New Jersey Department of Transportation under two Governors: Dick Codey and Jon Corzine. He began his tenure at the Department of Transportation as an aide to Commissioner Jamie Fox where he worked with the Blue Ribbon Transportation Commission to recommend long-term solutions to New Jersey’s Transportation Trust Fund. Joe began his career in Washington, DC holding senior positions including Legislative Assistant to then-United States Senator Bob Torricelli.
Joe also serves as Chief Executive Officer of NorthStar Strategies. He directs NorthStar’s client strategies and has built a firm that advises clients on myriad public policy issues, including a prominent transportation and energy infrastructure practice. Joe has been called as an expert witness in litigation matters related to transportation projects and policy. He was named to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s Transportation & Infrastructure Transition Advisory Committee in 2017. In 2019 he was appointed to the Transportation Engineering Advisory Committee of the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank. Joe was named to ROI-NJ’s 2024 ROI Influencers: Energy & Utilities list.
Fiordaliso serves on the New Jersey Committee of the Regional Plan Association and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Tri-State Transportation Campaign. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College in 1996 and is a 2010 Leadership New Jersey Fellow.
