About me
Dr. Yusuf Mehta joined Rowan University in 2001. He developed the Center for Research and Education in Advanced Transportation Engineering Systems (CREATES) and assumed the role of its founding director, since its opening in 2016. CREATES was established as a unique center equipped with a state-of-the-art accelerated pavement testing facility and a Heavy Vehicle Simulator (HVS). In fact, CREATES is the only academic research center in the Northeast United States (US) equipped with such resources. The center's mission is to conduct cutting-edge research and find innovative solutions to current and future challenges related to transportation engineering. As a member of ACEC, CREATES has an opportunity to contribute to studies impacting policy for their members, creating a pipeline of students. In a decade, the center has attracted close to $70 million dollars and more than 200 peer reviewed conference proceedings and journal publications. In addition, to attracting large research grants from Department of War and New Jersey Department of Transportation, Dr. Mehta has pursued grants from a broad range of federal, state, local, agencies, the breadth of the research and outreach foot print has led to sustained growth, as these agencies have continued to support the CREATES team over the years.
